First off I do have to say that I’m slightly in love with Canva. I have been using Canva to make feature images for one of my personal projects PuppyPages.com.au. I love how they make the feature images stand out. It’s something really simple yet really effective.
What is Canva you ask?
It is a online publishing platform with an easy to use drop-and-drag editor. It’s jam packed full of different marketing materials, presentations and social media templates; ranging from Facebook cover photo, Twitter backgrounds, Instagram posts, brochures, fliers and so much more.
It has lots of different free & paid fancy text options and images.
Canva for the most part is free.
Design Tip: You can also play with the Filter on an image to change the brightness and contrast of the colours. I have used this setting on my blogs featured images on the homepage.
Canva for Work
Canva has also just launched its Canva for work paid upgrade which allows you to set your companies brand kit (colours, font and logo) so you can always have it on hand.
Canva for work also allows you to create design templates using your brand kit.
Canva for work also allows you to set up design teams (extra additional cost per team member). After setting up your team your designers can create branded designs which is great for marketing, social media and sales departments.
Canva for Work has a 30 day free trial however you do need to submit credit card details but you can cancel at any time before the 30 days and not be charged.
Canva also has a Canva Design School, which is something I am yet to check out but what I have seen of it , it looks awesome!
The Design School blog has loads of articles with tips and tricks and design inspiration.
The Design School will also have tutorials on how to use Canva to its full potential (at time of writing this blog post there was no new courses).
If you are a photographer or illustrator you can also apply to contribute your photography & illustrations. Your images can potentially be seen by over a million users!
I hope you have found my blog post about Canva useful. I’m interested in any tips or tricks you might have for using Canva and also if there is any other tools you would recommend.
